Hike |
Hike: Lone Oak Trail, Tilden Regional Park, Berkeley
This s a moderate 3 mile loop with some gentle hills. After the hike, we’ll feed the animals at the nearby Little Farm.
Directions: From Hwy. 24 just east of the Caldecott Tunnel, take the Fish Ranch Rd. exit and go 1 mile uphill to Grizzly Peak Blvd. and turn right. Proceed a few miles to the stop sign at Golf Course Dr. and turn right. Make another right onto Shasta Rd. and turn left onto Wildcat Canyon Rd. Proceed to Central Park Dr. and turn right and make another right onto Lone Oak Rd. Park at the end of the road at the Lone Oak picnic area. Wear hiking boots and bring a picnic lunch and lettuce or celery to feed the animals at the Little Farm. |

Hike: Redwood Bowl, Redwood Reg. Park, Oakland
This 3.5 mile loop through a beautiful redwood forest starts out easy, but the last mile is uphill.
Directions: From Hwy. 13 in Oakland, take the Joaquin Miller Rd./Lincoln Ave. exit and go east (uphill) on Joaquin Miller Rd. to the light at Skyline Blvd. and turn left. Proceed 1.3 miles, past the Roberts Recreation Area sign and turn right into the parking lot at the MHA cabin. Wear hiking boots and bring a picnic lunch. |

Kindergym with Dawn Margolin, Oakland
Come play in a big space filled with slides, climbers, a large ball pit, boats, cars, music and more. The 45 minute class for children under 3 includes a structured 15 minute active circle time with songs, parachute play and bubbles.
Directions: From Berkeley, take Hwy. 80 to Hwy. 580 east to the Harrison/Oakland Ave. exit. Follow the “Oakland” sign, then get in the right lane. At the bottom of the exit, go straight through the intersection, which is Perry St. and quickly becomes MacArthur. Kindergym is in Temple Beth Abraham at 327 MacArthur. Walk up the driveway to the left of the stairs and enter the first door on the right at the top, with the baby gate across the doorway.

Stroller Walk |
Stroller Walk: Iron Horse Regional Trail, Danville
Enjoy an easy 90 minute walk on this flat, paved trail.
Directions: Take Hwy. 24 east to Hwy. 680 south and take the Diablo Rd. exit toward Danville. Make a slight right onto Diablo Rd., turn left on Hartz Ave., right on Church St. and left on Railroad Ave. Park in the Lundardi’s Grocery parking lot at 345 Railroad Ave. Bring a picnic lunch, or buy lunch at Lunardi’s.

Gymboree in El Cerrito Plaza
Enjoy 90 minutes of open play followed by songs and bubbles.
Directions: From Hwy. 80 eastbound, bear left on 80 at the 80/580 split and exit at Central Ave. Turn right at the end of the exit ramp, stay in the right lane and turn right onto Carlson. Follow Carlson into El Cerrito Plaza. Turn right at Longs and left at the end of the buildings. To the right of Trader Joe’s, take the elevator to the 2nd floor of the mezzanine offices and proceed around the right to Suite 704.
Admission is $4/child EBM members; $6/child non-members; free/adults. |

Moms Night Out |
Moms Night Out Life at the California Academy of Sciences ~ Golden Gate Park, San Francisco
The California Academy of Sciences is a world-class scientific and cultural institution that recently opened a new facility in Golden Gate Park. The 400,000 square foot structure houses an aquarium, a planetarium, a natural history museum and a 4-story rainforest.
At their adult-only NightLife, the Academy is transformed into a lively venue filled with music and provocative science. Food and cocktails are available for purchase. Tickets are $12. To order tickets, send a check to East Bay Moms, 6000 Contra Costa Rd., Oakland, CA 94618 to be received by February 15th. Directions and carpooling information will be provided.

Hike: Valle Vista Staging Area, Moraga
We’ll hike for 90 minutes on this primarily flat (some easy hills) trail.
Directions: Take Hwy. 24 through the Caldecott Tunnel to the Orinda exit and turn right onto Camino Pablo, which soon becomes Moraga Way. Follow Moraga Way for five miles to Canyon Rd. and turn right. Follow Canyon Rd for about two miles to the EBMUD Valle Vista Staging Area on the left. Wear hiking boots and bring a picnic lunch. We’ll drive to a nearby park for lunch. Note: Jogger strollers work well on this trail. |
In case of rain during any Friday morning activity, we’ll meet at SadieDey's Cafe in Oakland.
SadieDey’s Cafe has 1,000 square feet of dedicated play activities for kids as well as helpers who engage the kids in all kinds of fun activities. You get to eat and visit with friends, while your children can tumble, climb, imagine, dress up, paint, draw, mash playdoh, or just hang out and cuddle with you.
Directions: From Hwy. 24 westbound, take the Telegraph Ave exit and turn left. SadieDey’s Cafe is located at 4210 Telegraph Ave., between 42nd and 43rd Streets. Admission is free/adults and pre-crawlers, $5.95/children and $2.95/each sibling.
